Up with Vivid Co lo r that
has Excellent Durability
LUMIFLON was developed and commercialized in 1982 by
Asahi Glassas the first solvent-soluble fluoro polymer in
the world. Duringthis 19 years period, fluoro paints
based on the LUMIFLON raw material have been produced by
many paint makers in Japan and other countries, and
applied to over 150,000 architectural structures
worldwide. LUMIFLON maintains excellent appearances
(gloss, color) of buildings and other structures for far
longer than traditional top coatings, and also protects
steel and concrete from sunshine, wind, rain and
corrosion, and thereby reduces the total maintenance cost
such as repair works or cleaning. In other words, paints
that include LUMIFLON, have a long-life and are very
environmentally friendly.

Features
- Excellent Weatherability ===>
LUMIFLON has good chemical stability as a fluoropolymer
and shows excellent weatherability compared to the common
hydrocarbon based coating resins.
- Solubility with many common solvents ===> LUMIFLON polymer
can be dissolved in various organic solvents. LUMIFLON
gives you a choice of curing conditions from ambient
temperatures to high temperatures.
- Superior appearance ===>
LUMIFLON is a transparent fluororesin, so both clear film
and solid colored film can be chosen as your need arizes,
even high gloss!

Chemical Structure of LUMIFLON
(FEVE (Fluoro Ethylene - Alkyl Vinyl Ether) alternative
copolymer)
The complete inter-changability between Fluoro ethylene and Alkyl
vinyl ether gives excellent weatherability to LUMIFLON resin.
Either Fluorine or Chlorine, X in the Fluoro olefin unit is
alternatively possible.
Excellent Weatherability
LUMIFLON shows over 80% gloss retention after a 2.5
million Langley exposure EMMAQUA test (equivalent to 25 years of
outdoor light exposure).

Lumiflon based finish product prevents immersion of corrosive
elements such as water, oxygen, chlorine for many years. The
following graph shows that the use of Lumiflon has superior
durability compared with heavy duty paint methods. This
durability translates into significant cost saving over the
long-term. In addition, the potential for 'lost business' during
times of re-coating traditional top costs, can be very
significant.

Application
LUMIFLON is the pioneer coating product for the
soluble fluoro resin industry. During the last 19 years, Asahi
Glass has supplied the raw material LUMIFLON to major paint
manufactures worldwide. The LUMIFLON based paint has been applied
to many different types of structures, specially since it has
been approved for use under the "Japanese Construction
Ministry Specification for Steel of Road" specifications.
Truly, LUMIFLON is a raw material that the paint industry of the
world uses to add value to the surface coated structure while
also potentially saving significant maintenance costs in the
long-term. In general, application areas are listed below.
