-- What is EXCESTAR?

EXCESTAR(ES-S series) is a base polymer for Modified Silicon Sealant which is one of the most popular construction sealants in Japan. EXCESTAR has been widely used by sealant makers for residential and commercial buildings.

Recently, the applications of EXCESTAR have spread to not only construction sealant use area but also the elastic adhesive sector.




-- Characteristics

EXCESTAR is an outstanding moisture curable polyether having hydrolyzable silyl groups at the end group. It was developed by Asahi Glass based on the technologies of ultra high molecular weight polyether polyol (PREMINOL). EXCESTAR can be cured by moisture in the presence of a catalyst and gives an elastmer finish having compatible properties for sealants and adhesives.

Since PREMINOL has an excellent low by-product and narrow molecular weight distribution property, EXCESTAR based on PREMINOL has the following excellent characteristics compared with conventional polymers.

    ===> Fast surface and inside cure
