Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany

Fluon ETFE FILM is one of Asahi Glass’s special fluorochemical products. The films are highly durable and permeate light well, and so are often used for greenhouses, solar cell coating, outer walls of buildings, and sports facilities.
The roof of the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, where some world-class football matches were played in 2006, is covered with the ETFE films, which extend over 200,000 square meters. Furthermore, our ETFE films were adopted for the facilities of the world sports event to be held in Beijing in 2008. Specifically, the films are used for the Main Stadium and Aquatic Center, covering areas of approximately 50,000 and 300,000 square meters, respectively. The films have outstanding durability, which reduces the need for replacement, thereby promoting resource and energy saving. The excellent bending properties of the films have also been evaluated.
In addition, Fluon ETFE FILM, which features high light transparency and high durability, and its lightness improves the efficiency and the durability of solar cells and lightens module weight by being used as front sheets and backing sheets of solar cell modules. The film is also marketed under the name of F-Clean and used for agricultural greenhouses. That results in the creation of an optimal cultivation environment for plants.
