AGC Display Glass Yonezawa (ADY), which manufactures glass substrates for flat panel displays, began composting canteen garbage in 2008. Through composting, which is fostered as part of ADY's recycling activities, the company can reduce waste and also restrain CO2 emissions by 21 tons a year from the amount of CO2 to be emitted if all the garbage is incinerated.
The liquid fertilizer made from the compost was initially distributed only to the employees. However in July 2009, ADY began distributing it also to local residents free of charge. In 2010, the fertilizer was distributed to about 1,200 people in a total volume exceeding 20,000 liters, one of whom kindly commented, "It is safer than chemical fertilizers and vegetables grown with this fertilizer look better." Another said, "I am very grateful to the company. I expect them to continue this activity."

P.T. Asahimas Chemical (ASC), which manufactures and sells chemicals such as caustic soda and vinyl chloride in Indonesia, creates new employment through procurement of wooden pallets for product transportation. ASC began this activity in 1999 to help people suffering under the economic crisis based on the idea: "better to provide a fishing rod rather than fish". As a result of giving easy-to-understand instructions to those engaged in the manufacture of the pallets on a continual basis, including how to manufacture the pallet and manage the materials, ASC has contributed to promoting local employment in areas around the plant. It has also become possible for ASC to procure pallets meeting its quality criteria at appropriate prices by the set deadlines. At present, ASC is examining creating employment through projects other than pallet manufacturing.

During the summer of 2010, terrible wildfires caused by an unprecedented heat wave devastated parts of Russia. The government called upon public organizations and volunteers to take an active part in the fire-fighting effort. In response, 32 employees from AGC Bor Glassworks, which manufactures and sells raw and processed glass for the construction, automotive and other industries, volunteered as fire fighters. The volunteer team left for the Vyksunsky region (approximately 140 km from Bor), after having received additional instructions on fire safety and all the necessary safety and fire-fighting equipment. Over four days, they helped the fire-fighters prevent forest fires from burning houses by digging trenches around the villages. They also contributed to preventing the fire from spreading by covering it with sand, soil or by using water. The AGC Bor Glassworks fire-fighting team was acclaimed to be among the best fire-fighting brigades.
