The Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation was established on the 50th anniversary of the AGC Asahi Glass in 1957, with the objective of nurturing outstanding human resources to contribute to society. For over half a century, it has provided scholarships to gifted students in need of financial support.
In 1990, the range of students eligible for a scholarship was broadened to include international students as well as those from Japan. Since 2012, the foundation has supported high school students affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation has operated a scholarship system for high school students affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake since 2012. The effects of the earthquake on learning environments are varied and long-term. This system is that students who sustained damaging or economic effects would not be forced to give up on their studies, and provides scholarships to students currently in high school. Scholarships for students who plan to continue on to a higher institution after graduation will include the time they spend at that institution as well.
Last year, students pursuing their studies with a scholarship from the Asahi Glass Scholarship Foundation participated in an exchange meeting held in Sendai.
