The AGC Yokohama Technical Center (former Keihin Plant) started operation in 1916 at Tsurumi, Yokohama, which has been one of the pivotal districts in the Keihin Coastal Industrial Zone. Located at the Yokohama Science Frontier, a newly developed industrial quarter that continues growth as an important R&D site in Yokohama City, the plant focuses on research and development of glass products that deal with technological advances, and produces flat glass of various kinds for houses and buildings, and cover glass for car-mounted displays. It plays a pivotal role in glass production and R&D for AGC.
Today, the AGC Yokohama Technical Center and the Research Center (Yokohama, Kanagawa ward) have integrated their separate functions into a seamless research and development organization. Through collaboration with other corporations and research institutions, AGC continues to share their joint innovation with the world from Yokohama.
