AGC to Establish Sustainability Committee
AGC (Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Takuya Shimamura) will establish its Sustainability Committee on January 1, 2021 to enhance the functions of the current CSR Committee chaired by the Group CEO.
The AGC Group established its CSR Committee in 2005 to formulate policies for CSR and sustainability initiatives, including those for the environment and society, and to address various issues. In January 2018, the SDGs Division was established within AGC’s Corporate Planning General Division to further strengthen the Group’s initiatives in sustainability management as well as to enhance the Group’s information disclosure through the AGC Integrated Report.
In pursuing sustainability management from a long-term perspective, the newly established Sustainability Committee will, under the supervision of the Board of Directors, act as the decision-making body for sustainability initiatives, determine relevant policies, manage the progress of sustainability targets, and deliberate policies. At the same time, the name of the SDGs Division will be changed to the Sustainability Division. And as the secretariat of this Committee, it will lead the formulation and implementation of sustainability management strategies for the entire Group.
