Notice Concerning Change in Reportable Segments
AGC Inc. (AGC; Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Hirai), a world-leading manufacturer of glass, chemicals and high-tech materials, has announced the following changes to its reportable segments, effective from the first quarter of the fiscal year ending December 2023.
１．Details of changes in reportable segments
(1)The current Glass segment will be split into the Architectural Glass and Automotive segments.
For Architectural Glass, regional subsegments will be established for the Asia and Europe & Americas.
(2)The current Chemicals segment will be split into Chemicals and Life Sciences.
In addition, the names of the subsegments in Chemicals will be changed as follows.
[Current] [Chlor-Alkali/Urethane] → [After change] [Essential Chemicals]
[Current] [Fluorine/Specialty Chemicals] → [After change] [Performance Chemicals]
２．Reasons for changes to reportable segments
The Group has operated Architectural Glass and Automotive Glass, both of which are based on float glass, as subsegments within the Glass segment. However, the Group is working to strengthen high-value-added products for Architectural Glass and expand mobility-related products for Automotive Glass. The Group will change the reportable segments to Architectural Glass and Automotive Glass in line with the shift to business operations that emphasize the unique strategies of both businesses and decision-making speed.
As announced on November 2, 2022, AGC established a new Life Science Company on January 1, 2023, so the reportable segments will be changed to Chemicals and Life Sciences.
