AGC Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshinori Hirai, hereinafter “AGC”), a world-leading manufacturer of glass, chemicals and other high-tech materials, has supplied various glass products to the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the world’s largest archaeological museums, which officially opened on November 1, 2025, in Giza, Egypt.

The glass was manufactured and supplied by AGC Glass Europe S.A. (Headquarters: Belgium), a wholly owned subsidiary of AGC. Approximately 2,500 square meters of glass were used for the exhibition showcases housing the King Tutankhamun Collection, and around 30,000 square meters were used for the museum’s exterior walls, representing the majority of the glass used in the facility.

The extra-clear, low-iron glass used in the exhibition showcases offers superior clarity compared to ordinary float glass and contributes to the protection of the artifacts, allowing visitors to appreciate their true colors. The Low-E insulating double glazing used for the museum’s exterior provides excellent thermal and solar control while effectively allowing natural light into the building, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. These features enhance both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the museum while supporting the preservation of valuable cultural heritage.

This project is part of an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative, sponsored by the Government of Japan through a JICA Yen Loan.

Under its corporate philosophy of “Look Beyond” , the AGC Group is committed to contributing to the realization of a safe, secure, and sustainable society by providing unique materials and solutions based on its advanced technologies.
