Decision to Exit Business in Specialty Glass for Chemical Strengthening

AGC Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshinori Hirai, hereinafter “AGC”) hereby announces its decision to exit business in specialty glass for chemical strengthening (the Dragontrail® series; hereinafter, the same shall apply).

Since the commencement of this business in 2009, AGC has engaged in the manufacture and sale of specialty glass for chemical strengthening. The Dragontrail® series is used as cover glass for electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is used by many customers because of its superior strength, scratch resistance, and texture qualities compared to ordinary glass and plastic.
However, in recent years, our business performance has deteriorated due to falling market prices and sluggish order growth, and AGC has decided to exit this business based on the judgment that it will be difficult to recover profitability in the future. Manufacturing of this product at the Takasago Factory (Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture) is scheduled to end in the third quarter of 2026.

Costs will be incurred as a result of ending manufacturing and exiting the business. However, there is no change to the consolidated financial forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2025.
