AGC (AGC Inc., Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Hirai) a world-leading manufacturer of glass, chemicals and other high-tech materials, has established an “Innovation Hub” at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH)^*, in collaboration with IITH, through its group company AGC Asia Pacific (India) Pvt. Ltd. (Headquarters: Gurugram, India). The hub serves as a base for research and development, talent development, and industry–academia collaboration in the field of digital transformation (DX). The opening ceremony was held at IITH on May 21, 2026.

Under its medium-term management plan, AGC plus-2026, the AGC Group is promoting “Value-Creating DX,” aiming to enhance competitiveness by integrating digital technologies with its manufacturing capabilities. This initiative is positioned as one of the concrete measures supporting that strategy.
With the advancement of digital technologies, securing and developing talent with expertise in both manufacturing and development has become increasingly important for their effective implementation.
At the same time, challenges remain in terms of global talent acquisition and the speed of technological development.
The newly established Innovation Hub is intended to address these challenges by leveraging highly skilled IT talent concentrated in India and the expertise of IITH, serving as a base for the integrated promotion of DX talent development and technology development.
AGC has been collaborating with IITH over the years, building a strong track record particularly in joint research and talent development in the field of AI. Building on these efforts, AGC will further deepen collaboration between talent from IITH and the AGC Group, working on technology verification for applications such as AI for anomaly detection in manufacturing processes and demand forecasting. In addition, AGC will promote the global utilization of talent and technologies developed in India, thereby supporting DX initiatives at production sites worldwide, including in Japan and Europe.
AGC will continue to pursue sustainable value creation and strengthen its competitiveness through the use of digital technologies and the development of human resources.
