F-CLEAN™ was originally installed on this agricultural greenhouse in 1989 and remains in use today, having served continuously for 36 years without replacement. This remarkable record of long-term continuous use was recognized by Guinness World Records , leading to the award of a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title.
F-CLEAN™ is a fluoropolymer film for greenhouse applications manufactured from Fluon™ ETFE, AGC's proprietary fluoropolymer resin. Combining high light transmittance, excellent weather resistance, and durable mechanical properties, it helps optimize growing conditions inside agricultural greenhouses. AGC offers a range of F-CLEAN™ products tailored to different crops, applications, and regional conditions, including products designed to control ultraviolet wavelengths and light diffusion. The film has been adopted in a wide variety of climates around the world, from extremely cold regions to tropical environments. Furthermore, its long service life helps reduce the labor and costs associated with replacement and contributes to reducing plastic waste by minimizing the need for film replacement.
Mr. Kowase, the owner of the greenhouse, commented:
"Light is the most important factor in tomato cultivation, and even after 36 years, F-CLEAN™ continues to allow plenty of light into the greenhouse, enabling us to produce high-quality tomatoes. I am also grateful that the film has not required replacement during that time, which has significantly reduced the effort involved in greenhouse maintenance. I never imagined it would last this long, and I hope to continue using it for many years to come".
Under its medium-term management plan AGC plus-2026 , the AGC Group is advancing sustainability-focused management through the creation of three areas of social value: “Blue Planet”, “Innovation”, and “Well-being”. Moving forward, the Group will continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing materials that can be used safely and reliably over the long term, thereby balancing the advancement of agriculture with the reduction of environmental impact.
