AGC Biologics, Inc., a global biopharmaceutical Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO *1) and a subsidiary of AGC Inc. (Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Hirai), has entered into a long-term manufacturing agreement with a leading global biopharmaceutical company for the development and manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products.
Under this agreement, AGC Biologics has been selected as a long-term strategic manufacturing partner supporting the global supply of multiple biopharmaceutical products developed by the customer. Total revenue generated under the agreement is expected to reach several tens of billions of yen over the contract term. This selection reflects AGC Biologics’ proven global track record, the trust it has earned from customers, and the state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technologies of its new biopharmaceutical CDMO site currently under development in Yokohama, Japan (the “Yokohama Site”).

The Yokohama Site is being developed as a manufacturing hub capable of supporting three modalities: mammalian cell-derived biologics, mRNA therapeutics, and cell therapies. The site will feature one of the largest mammalian cell culture capacities among CDMO facilities in Japan.*2 Under this agreement, AGC Biologics will provide commercial manufacturing services for biopharmaceutical products utilizing this capacity. This agreement reflects the steady progress being made toward the launch of GMP*3-compliant services at the Yokohama Site in 2027. Through the establishment of the Yokohama Site, AGC Biologics will expand its global network across Japan, the United States, and Europe, contributing to the stable supply of biopharmaceutical products for customers worldwide.

Under its medium-term management plan, AGC plus-2026, the AGC Group has identified three social values it aims to create through its products and technologies. One of these values, “Well-being” focuses on contributing to safe, secure, and healthy lives through the stable supply of products and services essential to healthcare and everyday life. Through CDMO services supporting a wide range of modalities, including biopharmaceuticals, the Life Science business supports customers from early-stage development through commercial production and contributes to improving the health and well-being of people around the world.
