The AGC Yokohama Technical Center (former Keihin Plant) started operation in 1916 at Tsurumi, Yokohama, which has been one of the pivotal districts in the Keihin Coastal Industrial Zone. Since then, it has continued to operate as an advanced manufacturing base for various types of glass in its ancestral business. In 2020, a new research building was built and renamed the AGC Yokohama Technical Center. It integrates the functions that were dispersed throughout the former Central Research Laboratory (Kanagawa-ku, Yokohama) and has become the core base for AGC's research and development, seamlessly collaborating with other companies and research institutions. With plans to expand its life science business in the future, the center is positioned as one of the most important bases of the AGC Group, which is responsible for everything from research and development to manufacturing for multiple businesses.
